Hei Tāniko Poutama is a design based around the tāniko artform, a braiding technique using muka fibres to craft fine functional garments like korowai. The poutama is a pattern used across tukutuku, tāniko and kōwhaiwhai disciplines and is generally used to represent a path of learning and understanding. The design used in these earrings reflect the teachings realised during Matariki.
