Hei Pītau are based on the koru/pītau forms found in kōwhaiwhai (painting). The overall style of these earrings are inspired by the old pītau-a-manaia and kape variations such as the kape rua. Our designer Lance Ngata continues to develop this pattern in a contemporary way, and it has become a signature design style in some of his tā moko mahi.
